The Barnful of Quilts, held here at Fox Farms in Waxhaw, NC, is a quilt and fiber arts show to benefit the Waxhaw Presbyterian Women’s Group, supporting missions and outreach efforts of our Church.  The focus in 2005 was on the ministry of Bible translation in two African countries, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic.  Our church has developed relationships with two African Bible translation organizations in these countries, ANTBA and ACATBA, that are affiliated with Wycliffe Bible Translators International.  We will provide assistance through computers, satellite internet access for better communication, training, and materials for literacy and translation.  If you attended this year’s show, I am sure you noticed the poster with over four thousand languages - - that do not have Bibles - - - because of your support, we will be able to once again make a difference.  From the 2006 proceeds, we are supporting two young missionaries to Africa, Talia Shelton and Josh Baer.  And with your help, we can do so much more!

Each year, we feature one outstanding regional artist in additional to a wide variety of exhibitors and vendors in all of the forms of fiber arts.  We were privileged for 2006 to have Janet Lasher as our featured artist.  Many of you brought quilts to Sarah Woodring, our quilt historian, for her evaluation. And the traditional quilts of the Joyner family from right here in Waxhaw were just wonderful.  Lots of pictures are below, so take your time!  You may also click on “Start Slideshow” (above) if you like.  The music, the fellowship, the stalls beautifully displaying everything from quilts to yarns to pottery and more - - - it was just beautiful!  I’d like to once again thank all of those who participated - - - you made it what it was!
